The college baseball season is in full swing. The ACC owns the second-best average RPI (36) in the country behind only the SEC (22 average RPI).
It takes a lot of effort to figure out standings and run differential, so I wrote some code and put together a list of differentials and standings. The table below is through April 5 games.
A few notes below:
Wake Forest owns a league best +31 run differential. The pitching staff of the Demon Deacons is striking out 12.31 batters per nine innings.
NC State has three fewer conference wins than Boston College despite a better run differential (+7) than the Eagles (+1).
North Carolina and Pittsburgh only played one game in its three-game series, so the two teams have played only 10 league games. Given the Panthers league-worst 113 RPI, it might be a blessing or curse for the Tar Heels (gain wins, but avoid bad losses).
Louisville and Clemson have played one fewer league series so far this season, so only nine league games. The Tigers have won only two of its nine league games so far, and visit Florida State this weekend.
The Seminoles have lost 10 straight games, including its last eight conference games!
Miami owns a league-best +38 run differential at home, thanks to winning eight of its nine league games in Coral Gables. The Hurricanes are -17 on the road after scoring only two runs and being swept at Wake Forest though.
The league schedule for this weekend:
Notre Dame at Pittsburgh
Boston College at Louisville
North Carolina at Georgia Tech
Clemson at Florida State
Virginia Tech at Duke
NC State at Wake Forest
Miami at Virginia
